Can you make a portfolio website with Wix?
Yes. Wix has more than 270 portfolio templates. Some of them come with Wix Portfolio, Wix's app for showing your work as…
Yes. Wix's AI, Aria, builds the first version of a website from a short chat about your business, and it works on the free plan. For my Wix review, Aria built a site for a made-up dance school in about eight minutes. The site was a usable start. But parts of it were placeholders or made up, and I had to fix the phone layout myself.
Aria also stays in the editor after the first build. I asked it for a new section and a new look for the site, and I checked what Wix's AI tools cost.
Aria built the dance school site on October 12, 2026. I tested the later changes and the AI credits on October 23, 2026.
New Wix sites start in Wix Harmony, the editor Wix launched in January 2026. After the sign-up and two short questions, the main button offers to describe your business to Wix's AI.
I described the dance school in three sentences. I named the dance styles and asked for class bookings with a free trial lesson. I also wanted to sell class passes and T-shirts. The AI then asked whether I wanted to take payments online and which other features I needed. It also asked for the school's story. I skipped that, because I didn't want it to invent one. From my answers it picked five apps for the site, among them Wix Bookings for the classes and Wix Stores for the shop.
The editor then opened with my answers as a prompt for Aria, with a few templates for similar businesses below. I clicked Generate. Aria planned the home page section by section, and after about five and a half minutes it said the site was ready. The page in the editor stayed empty for more than two minutes after that. About eight minutes after I clicked Generate, I could see the site.
The prompt box also has a Create from URL option for a website you already have. According to Wix's help center, Aria then builds a new Harmony site from the content and the look of that site, and the original site doesn't change. I didn't try that.
Aria made all of this in one go:
The classes had no times, and salsa was missing. The schedule showed sample sessions called "Service Name" with a "Staff Member" as the teacher. The section for class passes was empty, and the photos were AI images.
The texts were the bigger problem. They read like an advert, and the blog posts promised "expert instructors" who "bring years of experience". I never said anything like that, so I rewrote the texts and deleted the posts.
On the phone, Aria's header was broken. The cart icon was huge, and the bell and the login button sat in a second row. I fixed that by hand.
Aria works as a chat panel next to the page. Under the chat, Wix warns that AI can make mistakes.
For my review, I asked Aria to rewrite one class description and gave it the sentence I wanted. It put in my sentence word for word, so typing it myself would have been as quick.
Later I asked Aria for a section with questions and answers about the free trial lesson. Aria asked where it should go and offered three places. Less than two minutes after I picked one, the section was there. It had three questions with answers, and one answer was wrong. It said a trial lesson lasts 45 minutes, but in the school's booking settings the free trial is a 30-minute appointment. The new "Book Trial Now" button didn't link anywhere yet. Aria offered to connect it next.
Aria can also change the design. Its suggestions include a new color palette and a refresh of the site style. I asked it to refresh the style of the whole site and make it look calmer and more modern. That took about eight minutes. Aria said it had changed the home page, including the header and the footer. The home page got new fonts and colors, and the photo at the top now showed a dance group. The text sat on top of the busy photo and was hard to read. One click on Undo in the editor brought back the old design, and the new section stayed.
Aria can't change the phone layout. When I asked it to fix the phone header, it said it can only edit the desktop view, and Wix's help center says the same.
Building the site with Aria didn't cost anything, and neither did the later changes. Wix's help center says that chatting with Aria is free and doesn't use AI credits. After the new section and the redesign, the credit counter in the dashboard still showed 30. That's the free plan's amount for one day.
Other AI tools use credits. Among them are the Marketing Agent and the Design Agent in the dashboard. The Design Agent makes banners and social media posts. On the free plan you get 30 credits a day and at most 120 a month, and what you don't use doesn't roll over. On a paid plan you can't buy more credits, but each plan comes with more of them. On October 12, Wix's upgrade page listed 150 credits a month for Light and 1,000 for Business Elite.

The free plan has other limits, like the Wix bar at the top of every page. I wrote about them in Is Wix free?.
Before Aria, Wix had an AI builder called Wix ADI. Wix stopped supporting ADI sites on November 10, 2024. You can't make new sites with ADI anymore, and ADI sites that were still published now open in the classic Wix Editor. Wix says its AI website builder replaced ADI. For new sites, that's Aria in Wix Harmony.
Yes, for the first version. In about eight minutes Aria gave me a whole site with the right apps for a dance school, and it cost nothing. After that, read every text it wrote and plan to fix the phone layout yourself. In my tests Aria made up the teachers' experience and got the length of the trial lesson wrong.
If you'd rather pick a design yourself, you can also start from one of Wix's free templates.
