Can you make a portfolio website with Wix?
Yes. Wix has more than 270 portfolio templates. Some of them come with Wix Portfolio, Wix's app for showing your work as…
Yes. Wix's own templates are free, and you can start a site from any of them on the free plan. On October 22, 2026, the template gallery listed 2,994 templates. You only pay for a plan for the site itself, for example to use your own domain or to take bookings.
In my Wix review, I let Wix's AI build a dance school site instead of picking a template. This time I searched the template gallery for therapist templates and opened two of them, one in each of Wix's editors.
You can browse the gallery by type or by industry. Type sorts the templates by what the site is for, for example an online store or a blog. Industry has 15 groups, like Health & Wellness. There's also a search box, and Wix keeps collections of new and popular templates.
I searched for "therapist" and got 99 templates. Some of them were for related businesses, like an acupuncture clinic. The style is part of a template's name, like "Therapist (Soft)" or "Therapist (Organic)".
The Info button on a template says who it's meant for, and the description often names the Wix apps that come with it. "Therapist (Soft)" is meant for therapists and counselors and comes with Wix Bookings and a blog.
If you'd rather design your own layout, there are 13 blank templates. "Start from Scratch" is an empty page, and the others give you a simple layout with placeholder text.
Only 465 of the 2,994 templates have the Wix Harmony label. They open in Wix Harmony, the editor Wix launched in January 2026, with its AI helper Aria. New sites start there, and it's the editor I used in my review.
The other templates are older designs for the classic Wix Editor. I tried the older "Therapist" template, and it opened in the classic editor, which has its own tools, like Dev Mode.
Wix says you can't move a site between the two editors later. Some apps are also still missing in Harmony, for example Wix Multilingual for sites in several languages. If you need such an app now, pick an older template.
View opens the template as a working website. You can scroll through it and switch to a phone view.
Edit this site makes a copy of the template as a new site in your account. The editor took more than two minutes to open. Wix didn't ask for a payment, and the new site was on the free plan.
The therapist template came with 19 pages. Seven of them are for online bookings, and three belong to a members area. Some texts are finished examples about a made-up therapist. Others are placeholders that tell you what to write. You change them in the editor the same way I changed the texts of the dance school site in my review.
If you create a new site from the dashboard instead, Wix asks about your business first. In my review it then suggested a few matching templates under the prompt for Aria.
Paid features come with a plan for the site, and each site needs its own plan. The cheapest paid plan, Light, adds your own domain and removes the Wix bar at the top of free sites. When I checked from Germany on October 22, 2026, it cost €16.66 a month on yearly billing, VAT included.
The booking pages of the therapist template won't take bookings on the free plan. In my Wix review, visitors could see the classes but couldn't book them. Online bookings need Core or a bigger plan. Core costs €29.75 a month on yearly billing.
Paid templates exist for Wix Studio, Wix's tool for agencies. Wix partners sell them in the Wix Marketplace, and they only work for Studio sites.
No. Wix says that once you start editing a template, you can't swap it for another one. You can create a new site with a different template and move a paid plan over, but your content doesn't come along. You can copy pages and single elements to the new site. Apps can't be copied, and neither can the header and footer.
You also can't download a Wix template and host it somewhere else.
