Is Carrd free?
Yes. Carrd has a free plan with no end date, and you don't need a card to sign up. For my Carrd…
Most of them are. On November 3, 2026, Carrd's gallery had 328 templates, and you can use 206 of them on the free plan. The other 122 have a Premium label and need a Pro plan. On Carrd's Pro page, the cheapest plan with Premium templates is Pro Lite at $9 a year. You don't need an account to look at the templates or to open one in the editor.
For my Carrd review, I built a one-page site for a made-up translator from free template number 246. This time I went through the whole gallery and tried a Premium template.
The button "Choose a Starting Point" on carrd.com opens the gallery. Carrd sorts its templates into five groups. The templates have numbers instead of names, and the newest one was number 328.
| Group | Templates | Free | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile | 148 | 136 | 12 |
| Landing | 103 | 37 | 66 |
| Form | 34 | 0 | 34 |
| Portfolio | 28 | 25 | 3 |
| Sectioned | 15 | 8 | 7 |
| All groups | 328 | 206 | 122 |
Profile is the biggest group. Its templates are personal pages, with a few lines about you and links to your other profiles. Landing templates are for a business or a product, and most of them are Premium. The template from my review is one of the free ones.
All 34 Form templates are Premium. Their forms only work on Pro Standard or higher. Portfolio templates show your pictures in an image gallery. Sectioned templates split the page into parts that work like separate pages.
There's also a blank page. Since I tested Carrd for my review on October 23, it has added four templates, all of them free.
Each template has a Demo button that opens it as a live page. You can switch the demo between a computer and a phone.
The Select button opens the template in the editor right away. Carrd only asks for an account when you save the site. The photos you see in a demo aren't part of the template. Each photo starts as an empty frame, and you upload your own pictures. Then you replace the text, like I did for the translator's site in my review.

On the free plan, your site gets a carrd.co address and a small "Made with Carrd" link at the bottom. The free plan also allows 50 elements per site. An element is any part of the page, like a heading or a photo. Template 246 had 30, and my finished page had 32.
Each template you save becomes one of your sites, and the free plan has room for three. Sites you haven't published also count. When all three are in use, Carrd opens the upgrade page instead of the templates.
When you select a Premium template, Carrd opens a box called "Try Pro!". It offers the template and other Pro features free for 7 days, without a credit card. I clicked "Select + Start Pro Trial" without an account. Carrd said that the 7 days only start once I publish the site, and the Premium template opened in the editor.
So you can try a Premium template before you decide. Publishing needs an account. I didn't test what happens to the site when the trial ends.
The box says that Pro starts at $19 a year. That's Pro Standard, which also adds forms and your own domain. Premium templates are already part of Pro Lite, which costs $9 a year and also removes the "Made with Carrd" link. If your template has a form, the form needs Pro Standard. The prices are in US dollars, and VAT or sales tax comes on top.
Other Carrd users also make templates. Turning your own site into a template needs Pro Lite or higher. According to Carrd's help center, the maker can share a template with other users or make it public. Makers can also sell templates through Carrd's Maker Program, and they get 70% of each sale.
Anyone with the link to a public template can start a site from it, even on the free plan. The exception is a template that uses Pro features. If it has a form, for example, you need Pro Standard. I didn't try a template from another user.
Give Vroni a GitHub issue, bug report, spec, or rough idea. It reads the repo, plans the change, writes code, runs checks, and works toward a review-ready pull request.
