How do you make a website with Weebly?
You sign up on weebly.com with a free Square account. When Weebly asks what kind of website you want, you pick "I…
Yes. Weebly has a free plan, and you don't need a credit card to sign up. For my Weebly review, I built a website for a made-up bookshop on the free plan and published it without paying anything. A free site gets an address on weebly.com and shows a "Powered by Weebly" badge. Your own domain needs a paid plan, from €11 a month on yearly billing. To get rid of the badge, you need Professional, at €17 a month on yearly billing.
I built the site on November 1, 2026, and checked the plans and prices again on November 3, 2026.
Weebly's pricing page lists the free plan next to three paid plans. I found no time limit for it.
Signing up creates a Square account, because Weebly is part of Square. Weebly didn't check my email address or ask for a phone number.
All of Weebly's themes are free. When I published the bookshop, I picked the free address wrenfoldbooks.weebly.com, and the site was online a few seconds later. SSL is part of the free plan, so the site loads over HTTPS.
Free sites show the "Powered by Weebly" badge in the bottom corner. On a phone, it becomes a blue bar across the bottom of the screen.
The contact form works on the free plan. A test message reached my inbox after 10 seconds. I could also write blog posts and edit the theme's code. The online shop is included as well, and I added products and set up shipping.
Personal is the cheapest plan for your own domain. Yearly plans from Professional up include a domain for the first year, and you have to register it within 45 days of buying the plan. A .com domain costs €18 for a year at Weebly.
Weebly's pricing page says that free sites show "Square ads or branding". The badge stays on Personal. Professional and the bigger plans remove it.
To take payments on the free plan, you need Stripe. From Germany, Weebly showed a fee of 1.4% to 2.9% plus 25 cents per sale. PayPal needs Performance. Without a payment provider, Add to Cart only showed "Payments are not enabled for this site."
Right after I published, Weebly suggested a custom browser tab icon, which needs an upgrade. Detailed site statistics and password-protected pages start with Professional. Unlimited storage also starts there. Personal has 500 MB, and Weebly doesn't say how much the free plan gets.
From Germany, Weebly showed the prices in euros and didn't say if VAT is included.
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | €0 | A weebly.com address and the Weebly badge |
| Personal | €11a month, €132 a year | €14a month | Your own domain |
| Professional | €17a month, €204 a year | €22a month | No badge, and a domain for the first year on yearly billing |
| Performance | €30a month, €360 a year | €40a month | PayPal at checkout and product reviews |
| Premium | €85a month, €1,020 a year | €100a month | Lower card fees |
Premium isn't on the public pricing page. I only saw it after clicking Upgrade in my account.
I found no free trial for the paid plans. Instead, yearly plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, according to the FAQ on the upgrade page. Monthly plans don't.
Yes, in the countries where Weebly still runs. Weebly shut down in 67 countries in 2026, according to its help center. Sites there went offline on September 27, 2026. The US and Germany are not on the list.
Weebly used to let some older sites keep their own domain on the free plan. That has ended, according to its help article on domains. Those sites now need a paid plan or a move to a weebly.com address.
The free plan is enough for a hobby site, or to build your whole site before you pay. For a business, the weebly.com address and the badge are the problem. If you want your own domain without the badge, plan for Professional at €204 a year. If you sell, each sale also costs a payment fee.
