How to Make Videos with Claude Code
Claude Code can't generate video directly. It isn't a video model like Veo or Sora. It writes text and code. You can…
Codex users are leaving for Claude Code. OpenAI cut the Pro 200 plan from 20x to 10x the Plus allowance at DevDay on September 29 and added a $500 plan, one week after Anthropic shipped Opus 5.5. The people who moved from Claude to Codex this summer are moving back.
The three most upvoted posts on r/codex this week are "You need to try opus 5.5", "Dev Day? More like Death Day" and "Dev Day L", which ends with "I am going back to Claude until we meet again." The first one was written by someone with three 20x Codex accounts who calls Opus 5.5 about twice as cheap as Sol 5.6. One user measured his $200 Codex plan at 1.4 billion tokens a week before Astra, half that with Astra, and expects a quarter after the cut, while his $200 Claude plan gives him 3.5 billion a month. Another ran four 20x Codex accounts for Astra, one per day, and "defected to the Anthropic camp" on DevDay. He still prefers the Codex harness and expects one Claude subscription to last him a week.
On Hacker News the Pro 500 thread has people cancelling after this billing cycle, downgrading to the $20 plan, and a self-described OpenAI booster writing "between this and the edge Opus 5.5 has I'm switching, sadly." On OpenAI's own forum a Pro subscriber wrote "I'm moving to Anthropic. Opus 5.5 is simply better, and it doesn't come with a surprise nerf." On r/ClaudeCode, "Codex users will start pouring in" has more than 370 upvotes, and "Adios GPT, it was a nice ride" came from someone who had praised Astra at launch. Former Claude subscribers who left for Codex report emails from Anthropic offering half off to come back. Theo Browne on September 25: "Codex is down right now. I didn't notice."
Tibo Sottiaux said himself that the new Pro 200 "will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan". His defense is that GPT-6 Sol and Luna API prices were halved the same week, so a Sol user gets as much done as before. The people leaving were paying for Astra, which did not get cheaper, or they have tried Opus 5.5 and do not want Sol. I am doing the same thing: OpenAI is paying me to move my business to Anthropic.
This is the same crowd that left Claude in July, when Fable 5 came back capped at half the weekly limit, and again when Anthropic cut the Claude Code weekly limits on September 14. One reply with more than 100 upvotes under the r/ClaudeCode post: "I remember the days where this sub thought Anthropic was fucked and everyone was talking about switching to Codex. Like one week ago." Whoever has the better model and spare compute this month collects the $200 subscriptions."
